This circular plate has been hand painted using wax resist and a blue background, to show the Nativity scene and the star above the stable. As you turn the plate you will see the Three Kings and shepherds as they follow the star and make their way to Bethlehem. The image was sketched on freehand before being painted with wax resist. As the wax burns off in the kiln it leaves the underglaze behind in this beautiful speckled effect.
All of our pieces are hand painted designs, drawn freehand without stencils (unless stated), created by me. Many are one-offs, and some will be made in a very small batch, but all will be individual and unique.
Plate is approximately 31cm in width with the artist’s signature on the base.
